Cystadlaethau. Defnyddir yr arian a godwyd i ariannu’r gwobrau a ddyfernir i
ddisgyblion unigol a’u hysgolion. Mae’r gwobrau a roddir i ysgolion yn helpu’r
ysgolion i brynu offer cerddorol. Ar gyfer cystadleuaeth 2012, gobeithir codi
£5000 i dalu am y gost o ddarparu ystod o wobrau i ysgogi disgyblion i greu

Where a joint composition is submitted by composers of mixed ages, the entry will be categorised according to the oldest member of the group. In each age category prizes will be awarded for the three best instrumental, choral and vocal compositions. A vocal composition may be for a solo singer or up to three voices. Competitors may submit no more than a single composition in each category. Six prizes will be awarded to runners-up in each age category. A donation to music funds will also be made to winning composers’ schools. The amounts of prize money will be announced at a later date. Winners of the first prize in each category will have their composition performed at a concert in their school. It will be the responsibility of the school to arrange this. As an incentive to submit live, rather than computer-simulated, recordings, separate prizes will be awarded for the best instrumental, choral and vocal recordings. These needn’t necessarily be of a winning composition. The Competition judges, provisionally are Peter Kok, Lucy Slane, Eric Amery John James, Davinia Harris, Nicholas Kok, David Poulter and Meinir Jones-Parry. General Note: Carmarthenshire Music In Schools competitions have been organised by Peter Kok of Pontyberem every two years since 1999. They have provided opportunities for young people to show their talents as composers of music by submitting original scores, of many type of music, from classical to pop, and including vocal and choral compositions. Local businesses have also supported the Competitions. Money raised has been used to fund the prizes which are awarded to both individual pupils and their schools. Prizes given to schools support the purchase of musical equipment. For the 2012 competition it is hoped to raise £5000 to cover the cost of providing a range of prizes to maximise incentives to work at worthwhile compositions. Recognition of this project has been acknowledged by Peter Kok having been made Wales Volunteer of the Year 2005, by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action. The competitions also receive the support of Menter Cwm Gwendraeth (11-15 Heol Coalbrook, Pontyberem, Llanelli SA15 5HU), a community development organisation supported by Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government. Peter Kok is a son of the late Felix Kok, the violinist, and a former Leader of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra |
